Before and After School Care Program
“ANGELS WATCHING OVER US”
Our Program
In response to many of our families’ needs for an extended day option, Huron Valley Catholic School has contracted with “Angels Watching Over Us” After School Program to provide an onsite before and after school program for our students, grades Pre K through 8.
The program provides structured and unstructured time, featuring activities such as arts and crafts, small and large group activities, homework help by a seasoned teacher, and inside and outdoor playtime.
Kindergarteners are offered weekly themes and enrichment activities that include working on review skills from their kindergarten program. Independent and teacher directed educational and creative opportunities are also available in Learning Centers set up in the classroom.
Older students participating in the after school program are offered homework time, crafts, games, and gym or outdoor playground time. Students enjoy socializing with their classmates in a more relaxed, less structured environment. Light snacks are available or your child may bring a more substantial snack from home.
In keeping with the St. John Bosco philosophy, staff members praise appropriate behavior and guide and redirect negative behavior. Such methods encourage self-control, self-esteem, and cooperation among the children. In this positive emotional climate, children are physically, spiritually and emotionally encouraged in their growth as caring, productive Christians.

Testimonials
“…Angels Watching Over Us has been a blessing to our family because we know how much love and patience you give our children during their time with you. Your dedication and effort is evident through the carefully planned curriculum you provide that coincides with the kindergarten class. William looks forward to the time he spends with you on a regular basis…” Carol Finn
“…Mrs. Caputo is a caring teacher who has a natural ability to relate to all the children. She listens to the children and is a positive influence in their lives.” Amy Lloyd
“…Mrs. Caputo creates this nurturing environment and her love for each child is evident in all things. The care put forth in each theme is impressive and the children love all the activities and crafts that are tied into the theme. It is truly a wonderful extension of what is being taught in the classroom. My daughter begs to stay in aftercare after kindergarten each day and that in and of itself speaks volumes! Keep up the great work!” Christy Hoban
“…Leanne provides a weekly schedule to the parents and I am amazed at the effort she puts into the program….In the after school program they learn and create something every day and it is amazing how close all the kids are to Leanne Caputo. Leanne not only teaches the children and takes care of them but she also becomes attached to each and every one of them and it creates and environment where everyone flourishes.” Karen Maurer
“…My wife and I feel very confident leaving or children in Leanne’s capable hands. We know about her education degree and her certification in early childhood education, but what matters most is what happens while the kids are with her: homework guidance, healthy exercise, enriching, age-appropriate crafts and games all in a warm, Christ-centered atmosphere provided by a great teacher and terrific role model. Our kids are better students, and also better people, for their time with Leanne.” Bruce P. Frohnen
“…In the kindergarten program, the children have a nice balance of learning and fun. The program is an extension of what is being learned in the classroom at the time. I always felt comfortable that learning did not end at noon….The students are encouraged to work on their homework before the fun begins. Although my children would rather skip this and get right to the fun, it is helpful to parents when evening time comes around!…The flexibility of the program is also helpful for families with ever-changing schedules.” Kathie Cropsey |
